The Magicians

I'm obsessed.

You know you really love a show when you can't wait until the kids go to sleep so you can hunker down and get wrapped in this alternate world.

It's been described as a cross between Narnia and Game of Thrones, and while I agree that that is relatively accurate, I think it's more likely the love child of Narnia and Game of Thrones, and then that baby went off and had a lovechild with Hogwarts.

It's easily one of the best things on TV.

If you don't mind foul language (assuming you watch the unedited versions on demand or on Netflix) and you can get passed the gore, it's phenomenal. I have learned it's best not to watch this show while, or shortly after, eating. I have never had a show make me want to vomit as much as this one has. I know that sounds like a bad thing, but it's worth it.

Season one seems to move really quickly, and I think they might have been trying to do too much too soon, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it and binge watched it (as much as a mom of 2 littles can) in a matter of about 2 weeks. It follows 5 primary characters through their beginning education as magicians. 4 of the characters attend a prestigious school while one girl is forced to figure it out on her own. (I mostly hate this chick). You learn about Fillory (R rated Narnia) and The Beast that has taken over. Lots of crazy shit, drinking, drugs, and sex keeps the story moving at a brisk pace and the season finale leaves you with a frustrated feeling of "What the FUCK?!"

Season two started a couple weeks ago and I just have to say, that "What the FUCK?!" feeling just keeps going! I look forward to it every week and I cannot wait to see what the hell is going to happen. Will Penny be ok? What are they going to do about the kingdom? Is Alice really gone? How are they going to save magic? So many questions!
