I received 8 Apple Pear Lactation Smoothies from Sweetie Pie Organics about 2 weeks ago. I drank one each day for the following 8 days. I haven't been having any issues with my supply of breast milk, but I lost it so suddenly with Connor that I'm overly concerned about losing it again and take every advantage I can to ensure I'm able to provide as much milk as possible for Kylar.
I was a little surprised by the taste, at first, because I wasn't expecting it to be tart. It was very delicious though. Once I got over expecting it to be sweet, I really enjoyed it and looked forward to it every morning.
The texture might throw you off a bit, though. It has a slightly gritty texture, especially towards the end, I assume because of the flaxseed, but I honestly don't know. It's not bad, just unexpected (like the tartness).
My only other "complaint" is that I expect smoothies to be thicker. I would classify this one more as juice than an actual smoothie.
Over the course of the last 8 days, I noticed a difference in my supply. I went from feeding Kylar all day and pumping maybe 4 ounces total, to feeding all day and pumping 4-6 ounces twice a day. I doubled my stored milk in a week. It's amazing! I know have enough frozen milk to leave Kylar for at least 3 days. I'm not going to, but it's nice to know that I have plenty in storage and I'm not tethered to him as intensely. I could go out without him for several hours, and he'd still be well fed. It's a very freeing feeling.
Overall, I would and have encourage(d) all breastfeeding moms to try this smoothie, especially if you're having issues with your supply or are trying to stockpile milk before going back to work. This smoothie will definitely help boost your supply.
