If you've ever gone shopping for baby clothes, you've seen the vast collection of sizing options: premie, newborn, 0-3 months, 3 months, 3-6 months, 6 months, 6-9 months, 9 months, 9-12 months, 12 months, 12-18 months, 18 months, 18-24 months, 24 months, and 2T. And those sizes are terribly accurate based on age (Kylar has been in 6 month clothes for over a month now and he just turned 5 months old today...) Oh, and don't forget that those sizes also vary depending on the brand. 3 months in Gerber clothes might fit just fine, while 3 months in Carter's will be too small. It's obnoxious and it makes shopping for a baby shower damn near impossible. You have no idea if that baby is going to come out huge or teeny tiny. I had literally 3 newborn size outfits when Connor was born, and the 0-3 month onesies swallowed him. It was frustrating.
SproutFit is looking to solve this problem. Instead of buying new clothes every couple months (or weeks, when your babe hits a growth spurt), they have designed their clothes to grow with your baby! You might sit there and think, "well that's a crazy idea. How can that possibly work?" but the more you think about it,the more you'll think "holy crap! Why hasn't someone thought of this sooner?!"
If you cloth diaper, then you are already familiar with the concept of adjust the cloth as your baby grows. SproutFit makes their clothes from a bamboo material that helps keep your kiddos warm in the winter and cool in the summer, plus it's super soft! They have a variety of color options (shown below) including gender neutral choices. The onesies have two (that's right 2!) rows of metal snaps that provide room to grow.
Bonus: No special washing or drying instructions! Best option: Cold wash, tumble dry low, but since that's how I wash all of our clothes anyway, I'm calling this a win!
Here's the catch: These clothes are not for sale just yet. SproutFit is launching their Kickstarter Campaign on February 24th, at which time you will be able to preorder and help get this company off the ground while getting some awesome clothes for your babies in the process. Everyone wins!
