Honestly, working my upper body always feels more like a chore I do to keep up with the demands of my boys. For some reason, if one is being held, the other instantly needs to be held as well. If it weren't for these upper body routines, I wouldn't be able to hold them both (at the same time) and I would have to listen to a lot more screaming.

I have a confession: I've been really frustrated with working out. Off and on for the last few months I'll go through love/hate cycles with fitness. I feel like I'm putting in all this effort and not seeing the results of my work. It's been weighing on me more this week, probably because the boys have been extra hard (teething one and potty training the other) and I'm just tired.
I sent this message to my hubby this afternoon:
I'm tired. I'm tired of stressing out about making sure I workout. I'm tired of being overly aware of every little thing I eat. I'm tired of working hard and not seeing the results of my efforts. I want to take an indefinite break, but I know that I shouldn't.
I debated sharing this with you because I didn't want to sound unmotivated or discouraged, but I have been feeling these things and I think it's fair to assume that if I am, then others are too. So, there you have it: I don't like working out! I don't do it for fun. I don't enjoy sweating or getting red faced and hot.
I do enjoy feeling accomplished when it's done. I like knowing that I'm working hard to improve myself and show my boys what strong really looks like. I'm doing this for myself. I'm not trying to look a certain way or reach someone else's standards. I need to give myself a break and realize that I am doing a great job and let that be enough.
With that in mind, I completed my upper body routine while watching Psych on demand in my living room. I took my time (about 30 minutes) and I didn't stress about the fact that I ate a blueberry muffin 20 minutes before. I'm enjoying my life, and I'm working to improve my body. One does not exclude the other. I need to remind myself of that every now and then.
