Over the last week or so, we've been running wild. Lots of family events and getting ready for the baby, who will be here in 9 (ahh!!) days. Let's play a little catch up, shall we? Last Saturday, we had maternity pictures taken. We got some really great shots, despite the fact that Connor had very little interest in standing still and smiling for the camera. After the maternity pictures, we went to my sister's house to celebrate her youngest daughter's third birthday. Connor had a blast!! It was very hard to get him to leave. We left the birthday party a little early, just to sit in traffic for nearly 2 hours, to get to a baby shower for two of our friends. I don't have any pictures for that one, just know that it was a great shower and that baby is going to be so freaking loved. Sunday was Connor's second birthday! Unfortunately, Hubby had to work, but he got off early enough to still have a good night with Connor. We had pizza (because he loves it and eats it so well) and he opened a couple presents from us. I think he knew I was having mixed emotions about him growing up and not being a baby anymore; Connor insisted on sitting at the big table, in a big chair rather than his highchair. I did NOT cry. I might have wanted to, but I didn't. I swear. Monday through Thursday were spent grocery shopping, cleaning, and hanging out with Mema off and on while we geared up for Connor's big birthday bash. Friday, Connor went to the doctor, got measured, weighed, and a flu shot. I went to the OB for my 37 week appt where we learned that, despite all the contractions I have throughout everyday, Kylar clearly has no interested in coming out. Saturday. Oh, Saturday. Connor's party was a huge success! Hubby put together his big car-coaster that I won in a giveaway last month. I thought it would make me nervous, but I was actually ok with it. I thought it would be faster and scarier than it actually is. My parents brought over an inflatable slip 'n slide and the kids had a fantastic time. Connor even *successfully* blew out his own candle! All. By. Himself. I was very proud. He made out like a bandit, with a whole new wardrobe (slight exaggeration, but only a little). So many new toys, cars, ramps, superheroes, cuddly stuffed animals, books! I love the books. He's been playing with everything, bouncing from one toy to the next, since he woke from his nap yesterday evening. This is our last full week as a family of 3. It will be spent doing the final prep for the arrival of Kylar, as well as soaking up as much one-on-one time with Connor as we can. It's going to be a crazy few weeks still and I'm so excited to see all the changes coming our way. At the same time, I'm beyond stressed. It feels like there's a lot to do and not nearly enough time. The upside is that we've already taken care of all of the must-haves/dos, so even if we didn't get anything else taken care of, I know we'd be alright. Minus food. I need to go grocery shopping again. (Because twice on Friday wasn't enough).
